The kammer choir Hymnodia from Akureyri has just released their third album Kveldúlfur. The album was recorded in an old factory in Hjalteyri, making use of the vast space and various environment sounds in the freezing cold of november a year ago. Hymnodia also had some guest appearances with Sigurður Flosason playing saxophones and flute, Harald Skullerud on percussion and Ulla Pirttijärvi joijking, making the album certainly stand out from it’s predecessors. Conductor Eyþór Ingi Jónsson performed on reed organ.
I documented their concert in the factory and made some photographs on location for the album cover, some of which can be seen here. I’m proud to work with these talented musicians and recommend checking out their web www.hymnodia.is for more information.
